Highland retreat

Settled in the Scottish woodlands, this cabin's garden was transformed into a tranquil sanctuary. Japanese influences were softly integrated in a contemporary and subtle way. Functionality was a must, so distinct levels were created in this sloped terrain. Edged with cor-ten steel bringing durability and over time providing a naturally weathered look. The elevation changes and separation of spaces, use organic lines to create a natural flow and sense of movement. 

Emphasis on quality materials, like Canadian Cedar, used to create two L-shaped benches on each end of the garden and a feature screen that delicately frames a Red Acer tree. The custom bottle green gloss porcelain tiled planter adds a modern feature. The garden design was planned as dog-friendly, which carefully considered non-toxic plants and compost, so there was comfort in dogs roaming about! Conifers, evergreens, and refined red-and-pink-toned perennials made the planting scheme unify and complete the space.
