'Amazing vision' Maïtanne Hunt has made us fall in love with our garden again. She did everything I hired Maïtanne after interviewing several designers. Her passion and love for her work really stood out. It was vital to me that the design of the garden be in harmony with the surrounding landscape and architecture of my home, not some identikit urban garden, which Maïtanne understood immediately. Her work ethic, commitment and attention to detail has been truly amazing. She isn’t a designer where once the design is agreed, pops in at the end to sign it off. She did everything from gaining planning permission, organising sub-contractors, choosing individual specimen trees, to doing some of the planting herself (smartly dressed at all times!). Her problem solving abilities are second to none. When issues arise, which is inevitably during a project spanning several months, she is straight on the case to resolve them, even coming on site the next day including at weekends! She is not afraid to challenge her long standing relationships with contractors to ensure the best outcome for my garden. The result is a beautiful garden which very much reflects who I am, which I’m loving more and more as each day passes, and has received many compliments from family and neighbours. Special thanks also to Carter Sexton for the hard landscaping work. His attention to detail and precision in the pursuit of perfection has been amazing, even to the extent of doing long days and weekends to achieve a finish beyond what even I would notice. The only time he didn’t turn up was when it was snowing! And also to May Nel for a wonderful planting scheme to give the feel that I was looking for, and the choreography of the flowering so my garden is like watching a firework display in slow motion.
