Social Garden

We were called in to design this garden after our client was disappointed with other design agencies producing what they described as ‘everything being put around the outside of the garden and no interest anywhere else.’ They wanted something different and not run of the mill - so the challenge was on!

Creating a garden design that had interest and useable zones was one of our key aims. We had plenty of space to work with but wanted to ensure that the landscaping had something going on in every corner. 

We had a different section for the loungers, formal dining, lower sofas, hot-tub and firepit. Granite paving flows throughout the garden leading to the different areas. There is also a walkway between the central Catalpa trees and a pathway set within the turf to the back of the garden and to the firepit.

The bespoke made oak pergola serves as a focal point, which has festoons draped between the beams, and looks fabulous in the evening and is further enhanced by the up-lit trees. 

Gabion seating was built around the firepit and three multi-stemmed Amalanchiers were planted in front to give it a cozier feel. We also added up-lights to these trees.

The planting combination is low maintenance; however, an irrigation system was added to keep it and the turf looking lush even in the hottest of summers.
